Hair care and protein - (nutrients necessary for hair) ~ Nutritionist's Column Vol.3 (Part 1)
The relationship between hair care and protein
This time, I will be focusing on hair care from a food perspective.
Keratin and essential amino acids that make up hair
When your hair is dry, has split ends, or is brittle, it loses half of its beauty.
The beauty of your hair is very important.
To maintain beautiful hair, external care is important, but internal diet is even more important.
Most hair is made up of a protein called "keratin," which is made up of amino acids. This keratin is made up of an essential amino acid called methionine, which cannot be produced in the body. In other words, the raw material for hair is supplied by eating high-quality protein.
Focus on B vitamins and minerals (zinc and iron)
First of all, it is important to make sure you are getting enough protein, which is a component of hair, but it is also recommended to take it together with vitamins and minerals that support absorption and metabolism.
To ensure that protein is absorbed efficiently into your hair, it is important to take it in combination with B vitamins. B vitamins not only help metabolize lipids and carbohydrates, but also support the production of proteins necessary for hair.
Zinc, which activates the metabolism of hair cells and is involved in keratin production, is also important.
Vitamin E improves blood flow in the body, widening the capillaries and making it easier to transport nutrients to the hair.
Iron is also important as it promotes hair growth and helps support the hair cycle. It is a mineral that women who are prone to anemia should take in particular.
To maintain beautiful, shiny hair
The key is to consciously incorporate B vitamins, vitamin E, and minerals such as zinc and iron into your diet along with protein.
